This little gem does exactly what it says it will do. Simple to set up and ready to go right out of the box.
this thing gets super bright, i like the warm settings it has
The first Lume Cube was so effective that I bought a second to ensure equal lighting while recording videos. The comparison in my videos of having a Lume Cube and using natural lighting are dramatic. I didn’t realize how dark my recordings were using natural light. The Lume Cube fixed it and improved the overall appearance. The Lume Cube is perfect in design, space, components, and adjustments for recording in my study and while traveling.
I bought the Lume Cube in April 2021 for $100. During it's first year, it got maybe 4-5 hours of use/week--pandemic work-from-home meetings, but that job ended and I've used it since for calls with friends--maybe 4 hours a month. The battery has always lasted around 90 minutes and even though I leave it plugged into a USB port, it doesn't provide the power to stay on after the battery is low. This past week I was on a call and it started turning off and would not turn on, and now it just won't hold a charge anymore. Further, upon closer inspection the diffuser cover over the LEDs had lifted from the body of the device (see pic) and it looks like the interior has lifted too, as if it's warped from being overheated. With infrequent use, I expected longer than 3 years out of this product. If I had used this daily or several days a week, I might have a higher opinion, but for most of the time I've owned the Lume cube, it hasn't even been used weekly. When it worked, it did a good job. If this is your choice, consider buying the Protection Plan, and watch for overheating that warps the cover and insides. I just replaced this with LitONES--we'll see how this goes, for half the price.
This is a bright light that lasts a long time. My only negative is that it's actually too bright for me on the lowest setting, so I have to move it further away from me off my desk, because I have 3 monitors already lighting me up when using it for a video call. The little suction device didn't stick to any surfaces I wanted to use it on, or at least couldn't support the weight of the light and stay attached. But I do like how portable it is, and I can use it for photography to light up things in the dark.
