I needed a magnet to hold a small smart cam in place and this does the trick nicely. The magnet is strong and the camera mount is perfect.
I needed to mount a handheld audio recorder to the base of a desk top microphone. This solved the problem. Works perfectly. Attached pictures show the magnet attached to the microphone base, then a swivel-ball attached to it, then the recorder attached. This makes it easy to do recording at any angle - thanks to the magnet base.
The magnetic base holds firmly to any flat steel surface, such as car or truck bodies, metal doors, or household appliances. The base has seven round magnets under a rubber surface. The rubber protects the surface from scratches, and keeps the base from sliding down on vertical surfaces, like the one I used for the pictures. Adding an adjustable ball head allows you to use a camera or spotting scope without the need for a tripod. The tab on the side is a useful feature, it lets you pry the base up and off, instead of having to use your attached camera equipment for leverage. There is no ball head included, you will need to provide your own. This base should work with any device with a ¼-20 tripod socket, in my case a camping/emergency lantern.
